nesting.

Look carefully at this picture.
See anything special?

How about now?

It's a blue jay nest, and it happens to be in a crepe myrtle tree right outside my parent's front door.  Earlier this week when I was over at their house I noticed the mama bird sitting on her eggs.  She looked so sweet.  Now, there are little teeny tiny chirps coming from the nest.  Even sweeter.  {Kinda makes me want to cry, honestly.}

Look at all that stuff in the nest. I see a ziptie, some string and netting among the branches and leaves. I can imagine her carefully seeking out and assembling the perfect items to create a cozy nest for her babies.  Just like we do.

Another one of the million reasons why I love birds.

Sidenote: As I was taking pictures of the nest, mama bird came back and did not look too happy with me.  I think I know how paparazzi feel when they are shooting celebrities now....

Looks like a creative mama created that nest! I love birds too!
We have a giant Saguaro cactus in our backyard that is like a condo for birds.
Every spring they all come back and a few weeks later the babies are peeking out the holes.
So sweet!
